Darren Ferguson seeking return to management

Former Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson admits that he faces a "huge" decision in choosing the right club to further develop his managerial career.

Darren Ferguson has revealed that he has spent time at European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid since departing Peterborough United in preparation for a return to management.

The 43-year-old was axed as Posh boss in February, bringing to an end a four-year stay at London Road in his second spell in charge of the club.

Having had a couple of months to reflect on where things went wrong at the League One outfit, Ferguson is now hoping for a quick route back into the game.

"I've been to watch both Real and Bayern Munich train to learn some new techniques and that was brilliant," he told BBC Sport. "[I spent] three days in Madrid with Carlo Ancelotti and [assistant] Paul Clement.

"They were going through a tricky time and how Ancelotti dealt with it was interesting. They were very welcoming and I appreciated them looking after me.

"This next decision is a huge one for me in terms of where I go with my managing career. I'd love to get back for the start of pre-season. I can't turn too much down as I need to work but it needs to be right."

Ferguson confirmed that he has already been approached by one club, but says that he is waiting for the "right" job to come along.
