Alan Pardew predicts big World Cup for Yohan Cabaye

Alan Pardew believes that Yohan Cabaye can play a big role for France at next summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that Yohan Cabaye will have a "major influence" on the France team at next summer's World Cup if he stays at St James's Park.

The 27-year-old has attracted interest from Arsenal, who lodged a £10m bid on transfer deadline day in September, while links with Paris Saint-Germain have also raised doubt about the midfielder's future in the North East.

However, Pardew said that Cabaye is already at a big club where he is integral to how the team performs.

"As I have said, he is the main man here and he has got a platform to be the main man at a big club," he told reporters.

"You don't always get that, and he should savour that and take that all the way to France with him in the World Cup because, if he stays where he is now, he is going to be a major influence in that World Cup, I think."

Cabaye joined the Magpies from Lille in 2011.
