Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he is targeting a striker during the January transfer window.
The Magpies have been linked with a moves for attacking reinforcements, with Loic Remy's loan from Queens Park Rangers expiring at the end of the season and Shola Ameobi being out of contract during the summer.
Pardew has admitted that he cannot afford to have Papiss Cisse as his sole frontman.
"I do think in the striker department is an area we could possibly look at because Shola's contract ends, Remy is not our player and that leaves Papiss on his own, really," Clubcall.com quotes the Newcastle boss as saying.
"We should have more than that, so that's an area I am looking at."
Newcastle face Cardiff City in the FA Cup on Saturday.
