Ronald Koeman quiet on Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin links

Everton boss Ronald Koeman admits that Yannick Bolasie's season-ending injury has forced his hand a little, but is unwilling to speak about individual transfer targets.

Ronald Koeman has revealed that he is looking to add some midfield firepower to his Everton squad when the transfer window reopens, amid talk that the Toffees could be interested in Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin.

The Manchester United duo were again overlooked for squad selection for Thursday evening's trip to face Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League, intensifying rumours that they could be on their way in the New Year.

Depay is said to have been among Koeman's targets during the summer, but he instead opted to move for Crystal Palace ace Yannick Bolasie, who is now expected to miss the remainder of the campaign after damaging his knee ligaments in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United last weekend.

Speaking to reporters ahead of his side's meeting with Watford on Saturday, a tight-lipped Koeman said: "We are looking for some good options, maybe the necessity now is a little more than it was before because we lost Yannick for a long time.

"I don't speak about players, about rumours. We know that when January is coming of course every day in the press there is a lot of speculation. We need to do our work and don't mention it to the press."

Schneiderlin has made three league appearances for United from the bench this term, while Depay has been used four times in the top flight.
