Manchester City reportedly pencil in a date for Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov to undergo a medical ahead of his move to the Etihad Stadium.

Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov is reportedly expected to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of his proposed move to Manchester City.

The Citizens have a battle on their hands to secure Champions League football, with Pep Guardiola's side sitting in sixth place and three points adrift of the top four.

Man City are working hard to strengthen their squad for the second half of the Premier League season, and they appear to be close to bolstering their defence with the addition of Khusanov.

The Citizens have agreed a €40m (£33.5m) deal to sign the Uzbekistan international, who is set to put pen to paper on a long-term deal until June 2029, with an option to extend by a further 12 months.

Khusanov set to undergo medical

According to The Mirror, Khusanov is expected to undergo a medical on Friday after sorting out all the necessary paperwork.

The Citizens finally received the approval of Khusanov's work permit, paving the way for him to finalise his move to the Etihad Stadium.

The 20-year-old is set to leave Lens after making 31 competitive appearances since joining the French club from Belarussian side Energetik-BGU in the summer of 2023.

The youngster will add crucial depth to Guardiola's central defensive options, especially as there have been a number of injuries in that position this term.

Who could join Khusanov at Man City?

Khusanov is not the only defender set to join the Premier League champions, with Vitor Reis on the verge of arriving from Brazilian side Palmeiras.

Man City have allegedly reached an agreement to sign the 18-year-old, who has already bid farewell to his Palmeiras teammates.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Man City are looking to bolster their attacking department with the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush.

Marmoush scored and provided two assists in Tuesday's 4-1 Bundesliga win over Freiburg amid the speculation surrounding his future.

The Citizens have made an 'official bid' for the Egypt international, who is said to be viewed as a replacement for Julian Alvarez.

It remains to be seen whether the Citizens will get any of the prospective signings over the line in time for Sunday's Premier League clash with Ipswich Town.
