Manuel Pellegrini dismisses concerns over European home form

Manuel Pellegrini insists that talk of Manchester City's poor home record in the Champions League is irrelevant ahead of the clash with Sevilla on Wednesday.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that he is not concerned by his side's poor record at home in the Champions League ahead of the clash with Sevilla on Wednesday.

City are level on points with the Spanish side in joint-second in Group D ahead of the fixture, but they have won just three of their 12 home games over the last four European campaigns.

However, the Chilean boss is adamant that he does not care about what has happened in the last few seasons and insisted that statistics displaying their poor record at the Etihad are irrelevant.

"I don't want to talk about home records, I don't know what our home record is," he told The Mirror. "I know that tomorrow we have to win here at home in the Champions League against a difficult team.

"All the other things are just statistics or history that will not help us to win or lose. I cannot talk about that. In my first season, we won two games here at home. We qualified with 15 points.

"I hope we are just thinking about the game tomorrow and to qualify for the next stage rather than thinking about what happened in the past."

City have won one and lost one of their opening two European matches this season, including a 2-1 home defeat to Italian champions Juventus.
