Simon Mignolet hails Liverpool "character"

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet hails the Reds' "character" following their 4-3 win against Swansea City on Sunday.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet hailed the spirit of the Reds' squad after they overcame Swansea City 4-3 on Sunday.

The Reds raced into a two-goal lead before Jonjo Shelvey and a Martin Skrtel own goal restored parity for the Swans.

Brendan Rodgers's side had the advantage again through Daniel Sturridge before the break, only to see Wilfried Bony make it 3-3 from the penalty spot after the restart.

Jordan Henderson scored the winner 16 minutes from time, and the Belgium stopper talked up his side's character.

"We made it a bit more difficult than it needed to be," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"We went 2-0 up and then Jonjo scored a beautiful goal – when that happens you have to take it on the chin. For their second, there was a big deflection and then the third was a penalty.

"It was a bit unfortunate but we showed character just like we did at Fulham to come through it and get the three points. It wasn't easy but we scored four goals and it was a very important win for us. The objective going into every game is to win and we did that."

The Reds are currently fourth in the Premier League.
