Jordan Henderson: 'Liverpool lifted by win at Blackburn Rovers'

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson believes that his side have received a good lift by beating Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday and reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has praised his side's 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers in Wednesday evening's FA Cup quarter-final replay at Ewood Park, claiming that it will give the Reds "a good lift".

Brendan Rodgers's charges have found themselves facing an uphill battle to make the Premier League top four after succumbing to defeats against Manchester United and Arsenal in recent weeks.

Nevertheless, Liverpool were able to put their league woes behind them in Lancashire as Philippe Coutinho's second-half winner saw his side secure a place in the final four of the cup.

Henderson told BT Sport after the match: "It was a very important game today, because everyone was disappointed with our performances and results in recent weeks.

"From start to finish, I thought we were brilliant tonight. I thought we controlled the game and defended well. Now we have a tough game against Aston Villa at Wembley, but this gives the club a good lift."

The semi-final between Liverpool and Villa will take place on Sunday, April 19.
