Olympic gold medalist Katie Taylor to join Arsenal?

Ireland's Olympic boxing gold medalist Katie Taylor could return to football with Arsenal ladies, according to her father.

Ireland's Olympic gold medal-winning boxer could sign for Arsenal ladies as she considers a future away from fighting, according to reports.

The 26-year-old capped a wonderful ring career by claiming gold at London 2012 on Thursday, but could return to her former career as a footballer.

Katie's father Pete Taylor told the Irish Independent : "We'll sit down as a family and speak about it. Maybe she'll go back playing a little football.

"She's got a good few teams interested in her at the moment, but she's got to get back playing."

Taylor was capped more than 40 times by Ireland during her stint as a footballer before devoting her attention to boxing on a full-time basis.

Taylor would join Irish international Emma Byrne if she decided to make a return to football.
