Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs targets second after Rangers win

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs is hopeful that his side can pip Rangers to second in the Scottish Championship after beating them 2-0 to leapfrog them in the table.

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs is hopeful that they can pip Rangers to second after beating them 2-0 this evening to leapfrog them in the table.

Goals from Scott Robertson and Lewis Stevenson at Ibrox earned Hibs their third Scottish Championship victory over the Glasgow giants this season.

Stubbs admits that Hearts, who are 17 points clear at the top, probably already have the title wrapped up, but wants his side to maintain their form and challenge for the runners-up spot.

"We showed a different side to us and showed a real steeliness," he told BBC Sport. "Rangers knocked us off our stride but what we always have is goals in the team.

"I'd like to finish top but it's Hearts' to lose. Do I think we can finish second? Yes, but it's a big ask. If we keep getting results like this is gives us a good chance."

Hibernian continue their league campaign when they host Dumbarton at Easter Road next Saturday.
