Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler was left ruing his side's missed chances after they were eliminated from the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the semi-final stage by Bristol City.
Gills captain Doug Loft missed a golden opportunity with the scoreline at 1-1 in the second leg, and Hessenthaler believes that the outcome may have been different had his skipper converted.
"If that goes in its a different game and it could have been a nervy time for them," he told reporters. "All of a sudden their crowd were getting a bit nervous.
"We got a lovely goal back and gradually got on top I thought. Loft perhaps should have scored, it was a good height for the keeper.
"We really didn't want half time to come because we were the team on top."
Bristol City won the tie 5-3 on aggregate to set up a Wembley final against Walsall.
