Crystal Palace reportedly make a decision over how they wish to handle the future of defender Marc Guehi amid interest from Chelsea.

Crystal Palace have reportedly determined how they will handle continued interest in Marc Guehi.

Despite managing to fend off admiration in the England international during the summer transfer window, the defender having less than 18 months remaining on his contract remains an issue for Palace.

As a result, a report has recently indicated that the centre-back is valued in the region of £55m at a time when Chelsea have been considering a bid.

The Blues instead took a different approach earlier this week by recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Selhurst Park, rather than try to reunite themselves with a former academy graduate.

According to Football Insider, Palace officials have decided how they will handle any future offers for the 24-year-old.

What is Palace's Guehi stance?

The report claims that Palace have no intention of accepting any offers for Guehi at the midway point of the season.

Losing Chalobah will already lead to Oliver Glasner searching for an alternative in the transfer market, leaving an exit for Guehi out of the question.

Whether any Premier League club would be prepared to shell out £55m on a defender in January remains to be seen, yet it appears that they will be told to return in the summer.

Should Guehi only have 12 months left on his contract at that point, it appears inevitable that Guehi will be allowed to leave, providing that a suitable offer is made.

Palace paid Chelsea a fee of £18m when signing Guehi in 2021 and they will want to at least double that if they are to give the green light to a sale.

Could Chelsea return for Guehi?

Upon confirming his return to Chelsea on Wednesday, Chalobah heaped praise on Palace, seemingly leaving the door open to a return at a later date.

A report on Wednesday indicated that a permanent exit from Chelsea for the versatile defender may remain on the cards for the summer transfer window.

If that proves to be the case, the natural move on Chelsea's behalf is to use Chalobah in part-exchange to sign Guehi, a scenario that could suit all parties.

That said, Guehi is highly likely to have more admirers come to the negotiating table than just Chelsea and could have his pick of clubs.
