Chelsea are allegedly prepared to make Barcelona midfielder Gavi one of the Premier League's highest earners if he agrees to move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are allegedly prepared to hand Barcelona midfielder Gavi a contract which would make him one of the biggest earners in the Premier League.

The West Londoners are currently at a crossroads when it comes to Financial Fair Play, a consequence of already spending over £600m over two transfer windows, recording £121m losses and likely missing out on European qualification.

Regardless of whether the Blues can salvage the latter, they are already in a position where they will have to make major cutbacks and sales in the summer.

Nevertheless, that will not stop Todd Boehly and co from making further significant additions in a bid to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku is already expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge, and recent reports have indicated that Chelsea may look to take advantage of Gavi's situation at Barcelona.

The teenager is currently not on a senior contract at Camp Nou and that situation will not change until Barcelona drastically improve their financial situation.

While the scenario facing Barcelona may improve for the better, they currently face the prospect of losing one of their star academy graduates on a free transfer.

According to AS, Chelsea are willing to break the bank to secure Gavi's signature ahead of next season.

The report suggests that Chelsea's hierarchy are effectively willing to hand Gavi a blank cheque in order to tempt him to the Premier League.

That would allegedly trump whatever terms that he initially agreed with Barcelona before it was ruled that his senior contract would remain invalid for the time being.

Gavi is currently on course to win the La Liga title with Barcelona, making a total of 22 starts and five substitute outings in the top flight this campaign.

A further six outings came in Europe, highlighting Gavi's importance to Xavi, yet opportunities are naturally going to rise for the Spain international to move elsewhere.

Other clubs will join Chelsea in any race for the prospect, although it is unclear whether they would be willing to match the alleged approach of the English outfit.
