The last time Tottenham Hotspur won at Stamford Bridge

Sports Mole looks back on 10 relevant occurrences the last time that Tottenham Hotspur won away at Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur will travel across London this evening for a derby clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

It's a venue where Spurs have not recorded a victory since goals from David Howells and England frontman Gary Lineker secured a 2-1 win back on February 10, 1990.

So, as the North Londoners look to end a wait of almost a quarter of a century at the home of their counterparts from the West, Sports Mole has picked out 10 things that were relevant at the time.

1. Conservative leader Margaret Thatcher was in power at 10 Downing Street.

2. Meanwhile, over in the States, George HW Bush was in the White House in Washington.

3. Sinead O'Connor topped the UK charts with 'Nothing Compares 2 U'. Also in the top 10 were Kylie Minogue's 'Tears on my Pillow' and 'I Wish it Would Rain' by Phil Collins.

4. Nelson Mandela was still imprisoned, although as Spurs recorded the win against the Blues, South African president Frederik Willem de Klerk announced that he would be released the next day.

5. Despite the fact that the Berlin wall had been brought down in 1989, Germany was yet to be reunified. That happened in October 1990.

6. Hard to Kill, starring Steven Seagal, replaced Driving Miss Daisy at the top of the box office charts in the United States.

7. Sweden's Stefan Edberg was the men's world number one tennis player, while the rankings regarded Steffi Graf to be the best among the women.

8. Just six days before Tottenham's win, Tom Cruise and Mimi Rogers divorced. It has since been claimed that Rogers introduced Cruise to Scientology.

9. In Division One, the two Manchester clubs were battling against relegation, while Aston Villa and Liverpool were challenging for the title. The likes of Luton Town, Wimbledon, Millwall, Charlton Athletic and Coventry City were all in the top flight.

10. None of these Spurs players were born the last time that their club won at Stamford Bridge: Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Erik Lamela, Andros Townsend, Christian Eriksen, Nabil Bentaleb and Zeki Fryers. As for Chelsea, the quartet of Oscar, Andre Schurrle, Mohamed Salah and Eden Hazard had also not been born.
