Marinus Dijkhuizen questions Championship rivals' spending power

Marinus Dijkhuizen admits that Brentford will miss Andre Gray's goals this season, but is thankful that the long-running transfer saga has now come to a close.

Brentford manager Marinus Dijkhuizen has insisted that there is "too much money" involved in English football, having lost star striker Andre Gray to Burnley.

The 24-year-old signed a three-year contract at Turf Moor last week to bring the long-running transfer saga to a close.

Dijkhuizen admits that Brentford will miss Gray's goals, but is grateful that he can now get on with bringing in a replacement before the window closes early next month.

"Yes [we will miss him], because he can make 25 goals, which is a lot of points," he is quoted as saying by Get West London. "It's been going on for a couple of weeks now, so it's good for him, good for Brentford and good for Burnley.

"Now we can go out and get a replacement. After a couple of months in England it is already clear that there's too much money over here. Clubs can buy more than in Holland."

Brentford's 1-0 defeat to Burnley on the weekend leaves them sitting in 14th place.
