Half-Time Report: Bayern Munich level against Mainz

Bastian Schweinsteiger levels for Bayern Munich after Mainz take the lead in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich have come from a goal down to head into half time level with Mainz 05 at 1-1 in the Bundesliga this evening.

Pablo de Blasis thought that he had opened the scoring for the hosts just five minutes into the tie when he slotted the ball beneath Manuel Neuer, but the finish was chalked off for offside.

Despite Franck Ribery and Thomas Muller both coming close for the German champions, it was Mainz who opened the scoring when De Blasis lined the ball up for Elkin Soto to pick out the bottom left corner.

The visitors needed just three minutes to get back on level terms, with Bastian Schweinsteiger stepping up to curl the ball in off the post from a free kick just outside the box.

Yunus Malli had a chance to put Mainz back in front before the break, but his finish was straight at Neuer, leaving the keeper with an easy save to ensure that the sides remained level at the interval.
