Roma boss Roger Schmidt: 'Bayer Leverkusen draw not a normal game'

Roma boss Roger Schmidt describes his side's 4-4 draw at Bayer Leverkusen as "everything but a normal game".

Roma manager Roger Schmidt has admitted that he was taken aback by his side's 4-4 draw at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

The German described the match as "everything but a normal game", but was quick to acknowledge the potential significance of earning the point.

"It was everything but a normal football game. That's why coaches, players and spectators come to the stadium," he told the official UEFA website.

"In the end, we even had a big chance to make it 5-4. That would have been craziness. The last seven minutes could be decisive for us going through."

Roma appeared to be heading for a memorable win, but late goals from Kevin Kampl and Admir Mehmedi salvaged a draw for the hosts.
