Luis Enrique calls for improvement

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique insists that his team can still improve on their performance levels following Saturday's 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has insisted that his team can still improve following Saturday's 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou.

The victory, courtesy of goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, allowed the Catalan side to move three points clear at the top of the La Liga table and stretch their unbeaten run to 26 matches in all competitions.

Atletico finished the match with nine men, however, and Enrique has admitted that his side could have made it more straight-forward with a third goal.

"I leave with the positive aspects from the game, although there are always things to improve upon," Enrique told reporters.

"The game was strange at the start and we found it difficult to get into it. And then we were not at our best when the result was still up in the air. Despite having two extra men we were unable to close the game out and we found it difficult to maintain possession.

"In the second half the objective was to close out the game as quickly as we could."

Atletico, who opened the scoring at Camp Nou through Koke, had both Filipe Luis and Diego Godin sent off during the top-of-the-table clash.
