Diego Simeone: 'We cannot look too far ahead'

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone says that his side cannot afford to look beyond tomorrow's La Liga clash against Malaga.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has insisted that his side cannot afford to look beyond tomorrow's La Liga clash against Malaga.

Victory in the Spanish capital would leave Atletico needing just one point on the final weekend to secure the title, but Simeone has called for focus.

"I live football in the same way as I live life. I know that in life you need to give of your best without looking ahead at where it may take you," he told reporters at a press conference.

"As professionals we are giving a lot to this competition. Our aim is to continue with this motivation. We need to give the League the importance that it has always had.

"Our way of playing has been based on the collective unit and the team for a long time. We need to keep going, without looking ahead and hoping. That is the best way to prepare for this period."

Should Atletico win against Malaga, it would also mathematically end Real Madrid's hopes of winning La Liga this season.
