Liverpool, Arsenal to look for free Martin Montoya move?

Liverpool and Arsenal may be looking to secure Barcelona's Martin Montoya on a free transfer.

Liverpool and Arsenal may look to sign Barcelona's Martin Montoya on a free transfer when the defender's contract expires in the summer.

The Daily Star reports that both clubs have been handed hopes of securing a free deal as Montoya has apparently put contract talks on hold to allow himself time to focus on pushing for first-team football.

It is said that each suitor may decide to offer the La Masia graduate a pre-contract arrangement in January, with a view to the player joining in the summer transfer window.

The English sides are not the only ones interested in Montoya, however, with Inter Milan coach Walter Mazzarri also reportedly monitoring the defender's situation in Spain.
