Serena Williams pleased to win 600th career match at Wimbledon

Serena Williams is delighted to have won her 600th career match on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

Reigning women's champion Serena Williams has insisted that there was no better place to win her 600th career match than the Centre Court at Wimbledon.

Williams beat Japan's Kimiko Date-Krumm in straight sets on Saturday night, a result that proved to her that she has started to get grips with the grass-court season.

"What better place to win 600 matches than on Centre Court?" Williams told BBC Sport.

"I don't think it gets better for me than a closed court on grass I'm finally starting to feel a little better after such a long clay-court season.

"I'm getting there but I'm just really happy I was able to make it to the second week."

Williams will face Sabine Lisicki in the next round on Monday.
