Novak Djokovic has insisted that Rafael Nadal was "unfortunate" to lose in the first round of Wimbledon to Steve Darcis.
The Spaniard suffered a surprise exit at SW19 on Monday as he was beaten in straight sets by the Belgian world number 135.
Meanwhile, world number one Djokovic booked his place in the second round on Tuesday afternoon with a straight-sets triumph over Florian Mayer.
"He loves this surface," the Serbian told BBC Sport. "He was unfortunate in that he has faced good opponents in the last two years here. You can't win them all."
Djokovic is looking to win the Wimbledon title for a second time after lifting the trophy in 2011.
