Boris Becker urges Andy Murray to stay focused

Boris Becker says that Andy Murray must not get ahead of himself following Rafael Nadal's shock exit from Wimbledon.

Boris Becker has said that Andy Murray must remained focused and not get ahead of himself following Rafael Nadal's defeat on Thursday night.

The Spaniard was dumped out of Wimbledon by 100th-seed Lukas Rosol, sending shockwaves throughout the men's draw.

Becker said that Nadal's defeat will be an advantage to the Scot, but one that he can only cash in on if he reaches the semi-final.

"Whenever he reaches a major final, or even a semi-final, there always seems to be a Hall-of-Fame talent standing in front of him, whether it be Nadal, Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic," Becker wrote in The Telegraph.

"Now, after Thursday night, it is a case of one star down, two to go for Andy. If he can keep himself balanced and stay in the moment for the next few rounds, the cards could fall very neatly for a real crack at this Wimbledon title.

"My concern was that Andy might be vulnerable in his first couple of matches because his preparation was less than ideal, especially in the case of that early loss at Queen's. But as soon as he gets back onto Centre Court he seems to click into rhythm. And after dispatching two awkward opponents without fuss, he can consider himself match-hardened for the battles to come."

Murray faces Marcos Baghdatis today.
