Fourth seed Kei Nishikori battles into the third round of the Barcelona Open with a three-set win over Roberto Bautista-Agut.

Fourth seed Kei Nishikori has progressed to the third round of the Barcelona Open with a three-set win over Roberto Bautista-Agut.

The first set was a breeze for the Japanese as he won six games in a row after Bautista-Agut had held serve comfortably to start the match.

World number 45 Bautista-Agut rallied back in the second set, breaking the Nishikori serve three times on his way to a 6-4 success.

The Spaniard then began the deciding third set in perfect fashion by breaking Nishikori once more, but this time he couldn't consolidate the break.

Nishikori fought back, breaking twice in a row before seeing out the set 6-1 4-6 6-3 to win the match in just under two hours.

Next up in round three is unseeded Kazakh Andrey Golubev.
