Sara Errani cruises past Patricia Mayr-Achleitner in Miami

Sara Errani eases into the third round of the Miami Masters by beating Patricia Mayr-Achleitner 6-1 6-4.

Sara Errani has beaten Patricia Mayr-Achleitner 6-1 6-4 to earn a place in the third round of the Miami Masters.

The ninth seed started confidently and Mayr-Achleitner seemed to have no answer for the quality facing her at the other end of the court as Errani secured two early breaks to storm into a 4-0 lead in the opening set.

Mayr-Achleitner delayed her progress briefly by breaking back in the fifth game of the match but her Italian opponent responded impressively to wrap up the first set 6-1.

Errani's performance levels dropped in the second set and a flurry of errors from both players resulted in a number of breaks.

However, it was Errani who edged ahead before holding her nerve to serve out for the routine victory over her Austrian rival.
