British number one Andy Murray has spoken out in support of equal pay for male and female tennis players at all events.
The issue of equality in the sport has become a hot topic in recent days after Indian Wells tournament director Raymond Moore claimed that female players were 'riding on the coattails' of the men's game.
Moore's comments were widely criticised and he has since stepped down from his role, and Murray is in no doubt that women deserve to be paid the same as men.
"I think there should be equal pay, 100%, at all combined events. The whole thing was very strange and very disappointing," Murray told The Guardian.
"I don't understand at all where [Moore] was coming from at all with those comments. It made no sense at all.
"I think it will happen one day. The crowds are coming to watch the women as well. The whole thing just doesn't stack up - it changes on a day-to-day basis depending on the matches you get."
World number one Novak Djokovic, however, has argued that men should be paid more than their female counterparts.
