Gilles Simon has booked a place in the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells Open after defeating Ryan Harrison 7-6 5-7 6-1 in California.
The match was evenly contested in the opening set with games going by the way of serve and the majority of play taken up by intense rallies between the pair.
Simon managed to just edge the first set and take the lead, leaving his American opponent frustrated on the court.
Despite slipping in the early stages, Harrison took advantage in the second set and managed to hold his form to force through a third and final set.
Harrison's efforts failed him in the closing stages of the contest and Simon eased through to the quarter-finals, where he will face John Isner.
