Rafael Nadal has reached the final of the BNP Paribas Open with a straight-sets victory over Tomas Berdych in Indian Wells.

The Spaniard, who is playing in his first hard court tournament since returning from injury, broke once in a tight opening set to close it out 6-4.

Berdych broke at 4-3 in the second to give himself the chance to serve out the set and level the match, but Nadal hit back before breaking again to seal the victory 7-5.

The 11-time Grand Slam champion will face either Novak Djokovic or Juan Martin del Potro in Sunday's final.
