David Ferrer advanced through to the quarter-finals of the French Open thanks to a 6-3 6-2 6-0 win over Marcel Granollers this afternoon.
The Spaniard got off to a flying start in Paris by taking control of the clay court with a number of sweeping forehand shots and powerful returns, which left Granollers struggling to find answers.
The number six seed took the opening set comfortable and continued his form in the second, while his fellow countryman tried to force and impact.
Despite a handful of impressive service games, Granollers stumbled one again and was forced to relinquish the second set as Ferrer took a firm grip of the contest.
Ferrer, the current Spanish number two, was even more dominant in the third set, breaking Granollers on three occasions to wrap up the victory.
He will now take on either Andy Murray or Richard Gasquet for a place in the semi-finals.
