Tomas Berdych secured his place in round two of the French Open thanks to a 6-3 6-4 6-4 win over Peter Polansky this afternoon.
The Czech Republic number one claimed the opening two sets in Paris courtesy of one break of serve in each of them.
In the third set it appeared that Polansky was about to regain a foothold on proceedings when he opened up a 2-0 advantage, but Berdych snuffed that out by breaking back at the next time of asking, before going on to win the match in exactly two hours.
The former semi-finalist at Roland Garros will now take on either Somdev Devvarman or Aleksandr Nedovyesov in the next round.
