Jeremy Bates believes that Great Britain will "just have the edge" over the USA when the two nations meet in the Davis Cup this weekend.
The two teams clashed last year, with Britain coming out on top 3-1 in San Diego.
Ahead of their upcoming meeting in Glasgow, former Davis Cup player and captain Bates has insisted that while it will be a close tie, Britain are the slight favourites.
"It will be a very tight weekend, two great teams. It's probably more neutral than last year's tie on clay," he told Sporting Life.
"Playing indoors will be a big neutraliser and John Isner is playing this time. It looks very tight but I do think GB just have the edge in terms of favourites."
The winners face either Germany or France in the quarter-finals of the competition.
