Davies takes second swimming gold for Wales, silver for England

Wales win their second gold medal of Glasgow 2014 courtesy of Georgia Davies's success in the 50m backstroke.

Georgia Davies has won gold for Wales in the women's 50m backstroke at the Commonwealth Games.

Just moments after Jazz Carlin added to Wales's collection with her second medal of Glasgow 2014 - following a gold in the pool last night - Davies came out on top at the Tollcross Swimming Centre.

The 23-year-old recorded a time of 27.56s to finish narrowly ahead of England's Lauren Quigley, who had to settle for silver while Canada's Brooklyn Snodgrass took bronze.

Australia, who had three swimmers taking part in this race, failed to register a medal.
