Georgia Davies sets games record in 50m backstrokes heats

Wales swimmer Georgia Davies breaks the Commonwealth Games record during the heats for the 50 backstroke.

Georgia Davies set a new Commonwealth Games record during her heat for the 50m backstroke event this morning.

The Wales swimmer won her heat with a time of 27.90 to seal a place in this evening's semi-finals.

Autralia's Emily Seebohm was second fastest, just ahead of England's Lauren Quigley.

English swimmers Elizabeth Simmonds and Jess Fullalove are also through, along with Scotland's Kathleen Dawson and Danielle Hill of Northern Ireland.
