Egypt's world champion Ramy Ashour withdraws from next week's British Open due to an Achilles injury.

Egypt's world champion Ramy Ashour has pulled out of next week's British Open due to an Achilles injury.

The 28-year-old was due to compete after returning to action following a four-month absence with a knee problem.

However, it has been confirmed that Ashour, who won the British title back in 2013, has picked up a fresh injury blow.

England's Nick Matthew is seeded third for the tournament, while Egypt's Mohamed Elshorbagy and Gregory Gaultier of France are seeded first and second respectively.
