Former Wales captain Emyr Lewis has warned Gavin Henson that he will have to "start from scratch" if he re-joins the Ospreys.
The 29-year-old was reported to be in talks with his old club last week over a possible return to the region after he said that a comeback to the Liberty Stadium was a long-term goal.
"He's got to start from scratch," 41-times capped Lewis told BBC Wales. "He's got a point to prove not only to himself and supporters but to his fellow players.
"They're going to give him some serious grief if he starts playing about again."
Henson left the Ospreys last October and spent brief spells with Saracens in the Aviva Premiership and Toulon in the Top 14.
The centre was named in Warren Gatland’s provisional World Cup squad but was ruled out of the tournament with a wrist injury sustained in a warm-up clash with England.
