Uncapped Wasps scrum-half Joe Simpson is relishing his chance to make an impact after being called into the England World Cup squad as a last-minute replacement for the injured Danny Care.
Simpson, 23, admitted that the prospect of making his Test debut at the tournament is a dream come true.
"I was over the moon. It's something I have been working towards for the last two years in particular and something I have been dreaming about since I signed a professional contract," he told BBC Sport.
"I got very luck with Danny's injury - it was something you never want to see happen but I wish him the speediest of recoveries.
"I need to push on and take my chance and make myself and the team proud."
Simpson is one of the fastest players in the England squad according to recent speed tests, and the inclusion of only two dedicated wingers - Mark Cueto and Chris Ashton - could require the scrum-half to cover on the flank.
"I've had to cover on the wing for Wasps last season and I feel comfortable doing it. I will play for any position England want me to and do a job so long as I get to pull on the jersey."
England kick off their World Cup campaign against Argentina on Saturday, September 10.
