England Rugby's Eddie Jones has been named World Rugby coach of the year.

Under Jones England won nine out of their 10 Test matches in 2017, including claiming their second successive Six Nations title.

The Australian, who has won 22 of his 23 matches in charge of of the side, is the first England head coach to win the award since Sir Clive Woodward in 2003 and dedicated the accolade to his squad.

"This doesn't mean anything to me personally, it is a reflection of the team, a reflection of the quality of the team and the quality of the staff we have," said Jones.

"It is a reflection of where the team is. If you have got a good team, you can be a good coach. Good players make coaches, it is not the other way around."

It was a successful night for New Zealand as they claimed team of the year and all three players awards - fly-half Beauden Barrett won men's player of the year, 20-year-old wing Rieko Ioane won breakthrough player of the year, and wing Portia Woodman won women's player of the year.
