Gethin Jenkins will miss the British and Irish Lions match against the Barbarians due to a calf strain.

British and Irish Lions prop Gethin Jenkins has been ruled out of their opening tour match with the Barbarians due to a calf injury.

The Wales captain picked up a calf strain during Toulon's Heineken Cup final victory over Clermont Auvergne earlier this month, which will now see him miss Saturday's game in Hong Kong.

However, head coach Warren Gatland has revealed that Jenkins will not be out of action for too long.

"It's three or four days before he's probably up and running," Gatland told ESPN.

"He's had ongoing problems with his calf for a long, long time but the physios are confident he'll be available for the second or the third game. So it shouldn't hamper him too much."

The Lions will face the Western Force on Wednesday, June 8 following their encounter with the Baa-Baas.
