Tommy Bowe says that Cian Healy would be a "massive loss" for the British and Irish Lions should his tour end early.

British and Irish winger Tommy Bowe has insisted that it would be a "massive loss" should teammmate Cian Healy have his tour of Australia ended prematurely.

The Ireland prop was taken off on a stretcher with potential ligament damage at the end of the first half of the tourists' 69-17 win over Western Force on Wednesday after going over on his ankle following a tackle.

Further to that, the 25-year-old could land himself in trouble after being cited for allegedly biting Brett Sheehan, and compatriot Bowe feels that it would be a shame for Healy's tour to end abruptly.

"He will be a huge, huge loss to the team," Bowe told Sky Sports News.

"Fingers crossed as you never know what could happen but I heard him out on the pitch and it didn't sound good. Your thoughts go out to him.

"If he is to be ruled out he would be a massive loss. He is a player that would be pushing for a Test spot. He has had an awesome season. He would be a massive loss off the pitch too."

Alex Corbisiero has been called up to the Lions squad as cover for Cian Healy.
