Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has been removed from the club's background of their Twitter page amid uncertainty over his future.

Bale has been the subject of speculation throughout the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid reported to be lining up a world record bid of up to £105m for the Wales international.

Spurs have maintained a firm stance when it comes to their star asset so far, but the 24-year-old is believed to be keen on a move to the Spanish capital.

Bale was previously on Tottenham's Twitter background along with Clint Dempsey, who left the club to join the Seattle Sounders last week.

The change of background, which now features Moussa Dembele and Aaron Lennon, has prompted renewed speculation that Bale is nearing an exit from White Hart Lane.
