Great Britain women edge out Spain

A goal from Alex Danson earns Great Britain a 1-0 win over Spain in the first of three matches between the two teams.

Great Britain have earned a narrow 1-0 victory over Spain in Valencia

Alex Danson netted the decisive goal against their hosts as Great Britain continue their preparations for the World League semi-finals in June, and head coach Danny Kerry is hopeful that his side can build on their win on Tuesday.

Kerry is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "It wasn't a great performance from us. Spain could have easily won and we rode our luck at times.

"These test matches are so important for us to develop the squad and ensure the less experienced players get to play at the very top level before we go into major tournaments. I'm confident that we'll get better over the next two games."

The teams will contest two further matches later this week.
