Team England women's hockey head coach Danny Kerry believes that his side's experience was key to their victory over Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.
Goals from Alex Danson and Susannah Townsend handed England the lead, but Scotland rallied through a strike from Nikki Kidd in the Pool B clash.
The host nation put Kerry's side under immense pressure towards the end of the game but couldn't force an equaliser, allowing England to book their place in the semi-finals.
He told reporters: "The first half was very good, Scotland over exposed themselves and we exploited that.
"In the second half Scotland stepped up and that generated some anxiety but in the last 10 minutes we got some good experienced players on the pitch and that allowed us to see it out."
England could face New Zealand in their semi-final clash.
