Martin Kaymer is happy that anchored putters have been banned but now wants golf's governing bodies to address slow play on the course.

Martin Kaymer has said that he is happy that anchored putters have been banned but now wants golf's governing bodies to tackle the issue of slow play.

Earlier today, the R&A and USGA confirmed that the use of extended putters would be outlawed from January 2016.

"I'm happy that the topic is off the table, we've talked about it for over a year now and I'm just glad that we don't need to talk about it anymore," Kaymer told Sky Sports News.

"It's not like you pick up that putter and make more putts otherwise you'd see everyone using it - you still have to practice with it to become good.

"Now it would be interesting to look at slow play, it's unbelievable sometimes how slow players are and I think we should push that topic for sure."

Kaymer, who won the 2010 US PGA Championship, will challenge at Wentworth this week for the BMW PGA Championship - the European Tour's flagship event.
