Morecambe have a man sent off and succumb to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Wycombe Wanderers in this afternoon's League Two clash at the Globe Arena.

The breakthrough came after just 12 minutes when Sam Wood marked his 100th Chairboys appearance with a remarkable looping strike on the volley from 40 yards.

Just five minutes later, Wycombe doubled their lead through Paul Hayes, who bundled home after Alfie Mawson's header was cleared off the Shrimps goal line.

Andy Fleming then gave Morecambe hope when he nodded the ball home in first-half stoppage time after good play from Jamie Devitt.

However, the home side's chances were severely hampered when Devitt was sent off in the 50th minute for fighting.

The visitors secured the victory when Joe Jacobson, aided by a slight deflection, lashed a free-kick into the top corner from 30 yards.
