Former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ronald Zubar has claimed that he turned down offers from two Premier League clubs in January.
Zubar ended a three-and-a-half year stay at Molineux by signing for Ajaccio in Ligue 1 two months ago.
The 27-year-old claims that he rejected interest from Southampton and Wigan Athletic in order to play in his preferred position of centre-back for Ajaccio.
He told L'Equipe: "I broke my contract with Wolves, where I had five months left, and signed for Ajaccio until the end of the season.
"The idea was a new challenge. Above all, I wanted to find my right position again as a central defender.
"In England, I was always played as a right full-back. This winter I had opportunities at Wigan or Southampton, but not as a central defender."
Zubar made more than 60 league appearances for Wolves but was rarely used during the first half of this season by former boss Stale Solbakken.
