Wolfsburg end Hertha Berlin's strong start

Two goals in as many minutes from Ivica Olic and Diego help Wolfsburg end Hertha Berlin's unbeaten start in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg have ended Hertha Berlin's unbeaten return to the Bundesliga with a 2-0 victory this afternoon, courtesy of strikes from Ivica Olic and Diego.

Hertha started brightly on the back of a two wins from their last three and registered the first effort at goal early on, which Sami Allagui managed to turn over from close range.

The home side responded and began to control the match in midfield, creating an opening which Diego hooked wide midway through the first half.

Just before the break the match turned in Wolfsburg's favour with two goals in as many minutes.

The first came with a touch of fortune as Olic flicked Naldo's speculative shot towards goal, with Hertha still stunned as they conceded a penalty in the next passage of play.

Diego stepped up to take the spot kick and smashed home, extending his side's advantage moments before the interval.

Olic then spurned a chance with time and space early in the second half, before Hartha decided to make drastic changes as Ronny and Sandro Wagner were both introduced.

The visitors were unable to engineer a response despite pressing high up the pitch in the closing stages, condemning Hertha to their first defeat of the campaign.
