Roy Hodgson hands Shane Long his first West Brom start since New Year's Day in place of the injured Peter Odemwingie.

West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson has opted to start Shane Long for the first time since New Year's Day for this afternoon's trip to Wigan Athletic.

Long's introduction is one of five changes to the side that lost 2-0 at Manchester United made by Hodgson.

Jerome Thomas comes in for the injured Peter Odemwingie while Billy Jones and Nicky Shorey start at full-back while ex-Latics midfielder Paul Scharner also lines up for the visitors.

For the home side, Hugo Rodallega misses out through injury and is replaced by Franco di Santo while Shaun Maloney replaces Jordi Gomez in midfield.

Wigan: Al Habsi; Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, Boyce; McCarthy, McArthur, Beausejour; Moses, Di Santo, Maloney
