West Ham United captain Kevin Nolan says that the club's Olympic Stadium bid was a "massive draw" to him when he signed for the club.

West Ham United captain Kevin Nolan has admitted that the prospect of playing in claret and blue at the Olympic Stadium convinced him to sign for the club.

The midfielder moved to the London outfit from Newcastle United in 2011 saying that the club's determination to secure the famous ground was a "massive draw" to him.

It was announced today that the Premier League outfit are anchor tenants for the stadium that hosted the London 2012 Games following a three-year battle.

"When I walked into this football club a year ago there was a mention of the Olympic Park being our stadium and it was a massive draw to me, just thinking that at one point I could maybe lead the team out," London 24 quotes Nolan as saying.

"I was quite surprised when people asked if we were worried what the fans' reaction to the move will be. It can only be positive. This is a massive move but we are still in the East End and in the heart of everything that West Ham is about."

The club are expected to move into their new home in 2016.
