West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce: 'We must kick on'

Sam Allardyce says that West Ham United must use their League Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur to propel them away from trouble in the Premier League.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is hoping that his team's latest victory at White Hart Lane will inspire a run of good form in the Premier League.

The Hammers booked their place in the semi-finals of the League Cup with a 2-1 comeback victory over Tottenham Hotspur, over two-and-a-half months after beating them 3-0 in the league.

However, the East Londoners have won just one of their nine games since that Sunday evening in October, which has seen them slip to 17th in the table.

"For me, the challenge is to get the players to kick on from this," the 59-year-old told the club's official website. "When we beat them last time, I thought we'd go on a run of results and pick up more points than we have done.

"I don't know where we'll go from here but it's just a fantastic result and the lads are absolutely delighted."

Allardyce takes his team to Old Trafford on Saturday to face Manchester United.
