Sam Allardyce pleased with victory over Tottenham Hotspur

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce says that his side exploited the "shaken nerve ends" of Tottenham Hotspur during their 2-1 League Cup win at White Hart Lane.

Sam Allardyce has said that West Ham United deserved their League Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hammers came from behind to claim a 2-1 win, which booked their place in the semi-finals, and Allardyce was glad that his side took full advantage of their opponents.

"As the game wore on both teams had to go for it. Neither of us wanted it to go into extra-time," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"It is what you can do when the spaces get bigger and bigger. We improved after Emmanuel Adebayor's goal.

"We saw the shaken nerve ends of Tottenham when we scored. We then went for the jugular. Our substitutes, who came on with fresh legs, exploited the spaces."

West Ham United have been drawn against Manchester City in the semi-finals of the cup.
